Skipass Exhibition in Modena is always a much waited for event which marks the final transition between summer and winter. For someone it’s the deadline for wardrobe change, for others the moment to buy the seasonal skipass, for others the chance to meet old friends and start organizing the ski holiday for the winter now approaching.
For Mottolino this fair is the best opportunity to meet our fans and give them the first news about the upcoming season (most remarkable the snowpark opening on December 7th), but not only… here’s how our visit in the land of fried gnocchi and tortellini went.
On Wednesday morning the first epic appointment. Along with Thomas we loaded up a van with all the booth designs: huge footstools, a refrigerator, several beers, clothing, a big TV screen, stickers, a computer, connection cables. More skilled than the Tetris world champion, we managed to fit everything perfectly, leaving just enough room on the driver’s seat. Just imagine my face when, at the fair, I had to download everything and prepare the booth. Yeah, because my fabulous helpers, the athletes of the Mottolino Freestyle #theTeam, this year could not leave before neither school nor work, and in their head they had in mind only the next day competition.
Without even realizing it, Thursday came, the first day of the fair. I got there early, settled up the last few things at the booth, pulled out the new sweatshirts and t-shirts (which, by the way, flew off the shelves), I turned on the video showing MottolinoGO the new booking platform and after a few minutes the gates to Modena Skipass Fair 2015 opened. People are not many but the atmosphere is quickly heated up by the presence of several athletes of all winter sports national teams that, on the occasion, were presented to the press and were available to their fans for the classics selfie ritual. During the morning Ema, Ian and Tobia along with their coach Mattia arrived as well. Early afternoon they started training for the freestyle battle crew: the competition ended at 17:00 with a really amazing outcome, the Mottolino Freestyle #theTeam stepped on first place!
On Friday, a rather quiet day, I dedicated myself to preparing for the weekend which, as I predicted, was a real tour de force. On Saturday the booth starts seeing crowd since early morning. It’s the big day for Mottolino keeping us busy during mid-afternoon with the Snowpark Awards and right after with the presentation of our new project. In the morning my colleagues arrived to give me a hand setting up the last few things. At 16.30 on the dot we were all sitting in front of the Awards stage waiting for the longed-for cerimony to start. Among snowpark awards, freeski awards and snowboard awards, Mottolino comes out winning in the categories Best Marketing, Best snowboard event, Best beginners park, Best freeski event, Best special obstacle while our athlet Yuri Silvestri won the Oscar for Best performance 2015 and the coveted award for Best Italian Freeskier!
Once the awards were over we all ran the Mottolino booth: there was no time to celebrate, in just a moment I had to present everybody the Mottolino Freestyle #theTeam. I was like a coiled spring, as excited as a little girl, at 18.30 I began the presentation speech. Emotion betrayed me and I needed my speech outline to explain everyone what the new project is about. We’ve been working on it all summer long and it’s the time to let the whole world know what we are putting our effort and energies into. I introduced the team, the coaches and I forgot the team manager, Veronica, who with no offense gaves me a pat on the back: the project has now come to life, and there’s so much to do!
Anxiety was gone, leaving space to joy…. it was time to party. We startied at the fair with an aperitif by Mottolino and then continued throughout the evening with the whole team!
The exhibition ended on Sunday with the visit of the last fans and the individual freestyle competition which, unfortunately, didn’t go too well… I got to the evening completely exhausted but definitely satisfied. I left pavilion B and it was official for me as well: winter starts here!
