Kids no stop: mini activities designed to make your ski holiday in Livigno a maxi one

26 January 2016

“Here we are: I just couldn’t wait any longer. It’s finally time for our ski week. Seven days in the snow, skiing, enjoying the sunshine and the pleasure of being with my wife and children… but woo, stop it: the kids. And now? How can I manage? At the seaside I just sit them on the beach with bucket and spade, every once in a while I throw an eye at them checking they are still there. At worst they’ll be chewing a bit of sand, but definitely they can’t go too far. But in the mountains how does it work? I already know it’s gonna be a mess: they cannot ski, maybe they don’t even like it, and what if it’s cold? I can’t just leave them there and off I go, running a couple slopes and even enjoying a Bombardino. That’s just not possible”.
Forget everything and rewind the whole story to start it all over again, because those here above were Marco’s thoughts before leaving and discovering Mottolino.
The reality, thankfully, had been quite different: read on to find out what happened and then take a look at Marco’s video of his family vacations published at the bottom of the page.
9:30: the bus leaves Marco, mummy and the kids just in front of Mottolino gondola. Zero effort. No stress.
9:31: first stop at Dr.Rent rental shop, to get all dressed up and to be given the most suitable equipment for us all. And those who don’t ski can kill time by playing with Kira: not only she doesn’t bite, but she just loves children.
9:45: nice and ready we pop into the adjoining office to say hello to Daniela, the lovely secretary at Ski School Centrale having its headquarters right next door. Dany is organizing the day for Mattia, Felice, Francesco, Didier and all the teachers who will entertain the kids on Mottolino slopes. She has also organized the ski lessons for Simone and Isabella, two of Marco’s children, and their teacher is a real hoot.
10:00: moving up to the mountain top. Mottolino gondola, destination M’eating Point mountain hut. Marco, mummy and the kids are taking Leo the youngest in the family, to Katia who in an equipped kindergarten will take care of him while Simone and Isabella are skiing with the teacher and mummy and daddy are enjoying a few slopes together. And do you know what? It’s free and it doesn’t even require advanced booking.
11:00-13:00: lesson time for Simone and Isabella. They are becoming so good that soon they’ll be able to take their first steps towards freestyle. What? Don’t you believe it? Well, right outside M’Eating Point mountain hut is the kids snowpark. It’s an area dedicated to children and equipped with fully certified structures built for a safe approach to freestyle skiing and snowboarding for all children. Of course Simone and Isabella couldn’t miss this.
11:00-13:00: a ski brek for Marco and mummy to enjoy a few runs together while waiting to have lunch with the rest of the family.
13:00: soooo hungry. Marco, mummy, Simone, Isabella and Leo couldn’t wait to get their legs under the table. Menus for children, self-service cafeteria, sandwich bar and a restaurant. We are spoiled for choice: even the least hungry kids fail to resist temptation when it comes to Biagio’s delicacies and Serena’s cakes. They a blast!
14:00: for mummy Cristina there’s even time for sunbathing on the huge outdoor terrace at M’Eating Point mountain hut while the kids keep on playing together in the kindergarten and Marco shares a laugh in the company of a new friend. After all this means holiday too.
16:00: time to go back down, all together. Let’s leave skis and boots at the depot located at Dr.Rent rental shop and we are ready for more adventures. Which ones? We are spoiled for choice: drift kartsleddogski-doos and a new entry, the pool with slides at Aquagranda Slide&Fun: one hour free entrance by showing the skipass valid for at least 6 days.
21:00: Bedtime for the little ones. 3-2-1… everyone’s already asleep: the day was pretty intense, no doubt about it. Bye Marco, bye Cristina: goodnight to you, I think it’s about time to finally leave you a bit on your own.
And what do you think? Do you want to do like Marco did?
