An August full of trekking: here are some ideas for some memorable hikes in Livigno © Claudio Foco
If we asked what comes to your mind when you think about Mottolino and Livigno in the summer, most people would answer biking and shopping. However, Livigno is a paradise to discover in terms of hiking and trekking.
Using the Mottolino gondola, you will get higher up in the mountains, above the tree line, from there you will be brought into a whole new world. The infinite view on the peaks of the Little Tibet is amazing, but also the one on the peaks of Mt. Ortles, Cima Piazzi and Palù. From here you will be able to access different hiking routes which are good for everyone in terms of difficulty, but to be chose on their length.
Do you want some suggestions?
As a hiking lover, I could not avoid getting emotional when I visited the Crap della Parè: the great route which brings to the peak, where there is a Cross, completely merged with a beautiful panorama. Get ready to get to the top though, where you will find possibly the best view on the Livigno’s lake.
If you have more time and you want to walk for a longer time, we suggest you the Baitel route, towards the Mine valley. Thanks to these little huts situated on the way to the valley, you will have the chance to jump back to the past and try to imagine how the inhabitants used to live until some decades ago. The two hours walk deserves a great ending, with some typical food whichyou can find at the Valle delle Mine hut.
